Harmony Day

Thu May 25

Lindfield East Public School will be celebrating Harmony Day on Thursday 25th May 2023. Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. The message this year is ‘Living in Harmony.’ Students are encouraged to come together to reflect on and celebrate the many cultures that make up our community.

All students and staff are invited to wear traditional clothing of their family’s country of origin or wear orange clothing and accessories, as orange is the official colour of Harmony Day. Children in delicately made costumes may change into mufti clothes after the parade.

This year, Harmony Day is being celebrated with all K-6 students through a ‘Parade of Nations’ to recognise and celebrate our cultural diversity. Selected students in Stage 3 will share their personal stories with their peers. LEPS students will also take part in an educational Lion Dance workshop during the day.

To celebrate the cultural diversity at our school, parents are encouraged to bring in a plate of food to be shared with their child’s class, in addition to their own lunch.
Students must still bring in their own lunch to eat on the day. Plates of food must be fully labelled with the ingredients (this is very important for students will allergies) and the country of origin. As most allergies are nut related, please avoid supplying food with nut ingredients. These can be delivered from 12.30-12.45pm to your child’s classroom. Class teachers will be on duty to supervise at eating time.
